Did you enjoy the Austin Powers movies? Are you a First Person Shooter nut? Get the best of both worlds by playing this great new game The Operative ~ No One Lives Forever! You are Cate Archer, thief turned covert operative for UNITY, an international agency charged with combating terrorism around the globe. The game takes place in 1967. You (as Cate) travel all over the world trying to destroy the evil empire known as H.A.R.M., and believe me, some of the antics that you find yourself in will make you wonder why you ever played any other game! Imagine fighting terrorists in an airplane, only to have the entire back end of it blow off sucking you out without a parachute; the only way to survive, is to free fall towards a parachute equipped terrorist and use his........but, not without a mid-air shootout with other H.A.R.M. bad guys. How does snowmobiling through the Alps, scuba diving to a sunken ship or motorcycling through the countryside dodging snipers bullets sound to you? This game really was put together with a lot of imagination. Take for instance your weapons: you can use a barrette as a lock pick, a lighter as a welder's torch, acid enriched perfume, a briefcase that is packed full of RPG's, an exploding lipstick, sunglasses that allow you to spot mine fields or infrared beams........the list goes on and on. The cool thing is that you can pick and choose what weapons you want to take with you on each of the 15 missions. I am only about 3/4 of the way through this addictive, entertaining, hilarious game, and am enjoying the heck out of it! Here are the system specifications:
You can download the full 108mb demo here or download the "light" 45mb demo here. The graphics are GREAT, storyline is GREAT (although some of the video sequences get a bit lengthy), the game play is GREAT ~ can you tell that I absolutely love this game? Go to the Fox Interactive website and check out the screen shots, reviews and all the details regarding this game. The game retails on the Fox website for $39.95, but with the Holiday season upon us, you should be able to find it for a bit less.
I am having a blast with this game! Like I stated before, the graphics in the demo version of this new NovaLogic game is a GREAT improvement over Delta Force 2 (and DF2 is GREAT!). I was also hoping that the AI would be slightly more intelligent than in the demo ~ this too held true, but, only slightly. The great thing about this game is the expansive real estate utilized by the missions ~ it's like you could run for miles and never find the end.......very cool. I love the graphics, the weapons are improved upon and there seem to be more terrorists in remote areas gunning for you. Online game play is fun if you catch it in the beginning of the level ~ otherwise you may come in and all the baddies may already be dealt with. Then, when the host goes to the next mission, it kicks you out and you have to rejoin. I understand that NovaLogic is working on updating their servers and some of the nasty things that are experienced will (hopefully) go away. Here are the system specifications:
Lots of missions (day and night) to play either single player or multiplayer ~ loads of weapon selection options for you to optimize your mission ~ great graphics and smooth movement throughout the game. Overall a great game for those of us that enjoy the Rogue Spear type military/swat type games ~ and as stated before, if you like sniping, you will be in HEAVEN (not literally, cuz you are such a crack shot!).
Delta Force 2 ~ Reviewed 10/24/00 My friend Glennbo came through (big time) and loaned me his copy of Delta Force 2 by Novalogic. I have never played the original Delta Force, however, because I am such a fan of Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear, he KNEW I would like this one! Boy, was he right! From the opening scenes of the game, I could tell it was going to be for me ~ the intro is a group of soldiers in a jungle (very Viet-Namy) and the graphics were spectacular. Then, I set up my usual choices for movement and firing and got under way. Even though I have only entered the first stages of this game, I can tell it's definitely going on my "gotta have it" list. Another friend of mine, Bill, has also been telling me to get this game ~ I just didn't listen.......well kids, if you are a fan of games like Rainbow Six & Rogue Spear, this just may be a nice alternative to playing those missions over and over. Also, according to Bill, the multiplayer is GREAT!! Here are the spec's you need for the game:
I recently upgraded to a PIII 700, and the game played very smoothly in 800x600 mode although a touch pixely. When I ramped it up to 1024x768, movement seemed a bit more "bumpy" and taking careful aim at a target 400 meters away was more challenging. I can put up with the pixels! I liked the game play, I liked the action, I liked the challenge.....overall a good game for you FPS players out there that enjoy missions where you kill the very, very, bad guys of the world! You can download the 38MB demo at Novalogic’s website. UPDATE ~ 01/12/01 Soon after I wrote the above reviews (for another website) I went out and purchased both Delta Force2 and Delta Force Land Warrior ~ both of these games were in my CD Drive for a LONG time as they ROCK! If you like FPS games, get them. |
